In 2026, the ALBERTINA Museum celebrates an extraordinary milestone: its 250th anniversary. Throughout the year, the museum marks this remarkable achievement with a programme of special anniversary events, inviting visitors to celebrate one of Vienna’s most treasured cultural landmarks and its enduring contribution to art, history and the city’s identity.
Loved by locals and admired by millions of visitors every year, ALBERTINA is a destination where art, history and everyday Viennese life come together in a truly unique way.
Its famous terrace overlooking the Vienna State Opera, Hotel Sacher, Café Mozart, the Vienna Tourist Information Centre, the Hofburg and the Burggarten offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the city. It is a place where visitors naturally stop, admire the scenery and capture memories that will stay with them long after returning home. Equally iconic is the museum’s grand staircase, whose façade is continuously transformed by the artwork of current exhibitions, a favourite backdrop where both Viennese and tourists enjoy having their photographs taken.
As a photographer, I have been fortunate to experience ALBERTINA from a perspective that few people have.
One of the very first creative projects after moving to Vienna was a bridal styled shoot here. Looking back today, it feels symbolic that such an important chapter of my professional journey began at one of the city’s most remarkable cultural institutions.
Since then, I have had the privilege of returning many times to photograph elegant corporate receptions, institutional events, embassy functions, guided visits for international delegations, museum representatives from abroad, and exclusive evening events held within this extraordinary setting. I have also photographed weddings and private celebrations, where ALBERTINA provided one of Vienna’s most refined and unforgettable backdrops.
Each assignment has offered a different perspective, yet every visit has reminded me why this place holds such a special place in my heart.
ALBERTINA is far more than an exceptional museum. For many of us who call Vienna home, it is woven into our everyday lives in a way that goes beyond its exhibitions and remarkable collections. Its terrace is not only one of the city’s most spectacular viewpoints—it is also a place where we meet friends, pause for a moment during a walk through the city, sit and admire Vienna, or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere that makes this place feel so familiar every time you return. In many ways, ALBERTINA feels a little like home.
It is also one of the locations I most enjoy sharing with my clients from all over the world. Whether I am photographing a destination wedding, an engagement session, a family portrait or welcoming first-time visitors to Vienna, ALBERTINA is always one of those places that leaves a lasting impression. It represents the beauty, elegance and cultural soul of the city in a way that few other landmarks can.
Congratulations to everyone at ALBERTINA on this exceptional anniversary.
Thank you for preserving 250 years of artistic heritage while continuing to inspire new generations through art, culture and innovation.
On a personal note, I feel genuinely grateful and honoured to have been able to make my modest contribution to a tiny chapter of this remarkable journey. Through the events, celebrations and special moments I have been entrusted to photograph over the years, often set within the historic Prunkräume or other uniquely atmospheric spaces of ALBERTINA, I have witnessed how it continues to bring people together and create exceptional lasting memories.
Happy 250th Anniversary, ALBERTINA.
May this extraordinary institution continue to inspire Vienna and visitors from around the world for many generations to come.
